PHILANTHROPIST by JACQUES GEORGES CLEMENCEAU LE CLERQ

First Line: THE MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS RAN
Last Line: WHY PEOPLE LAUGHED AT HIM.
Subject(s): CHARITY; GENEROSITY; PHILANTHROPY;

The milk of human kindness ran
In rich abundance in his breast,
It left thin grease stains on the tan
Of his asbestos vest,

And though his cup of life with good
Was full up to the very brim,
It seems he never understood
Why people laughed at him.
