CHILD HEART by GRACE STONE COATES

First Line: OUT OF LONELINESS SHE FASHIONED BEAUTY
Last Line: "SHE CRIED: ""YOUR HIGHNESS!"" AND KNELT UNAFRAID."
Subject(s): PIRATES; PIRACY; BUCCANEERS;

Out of loneliness she fashioned beauty,
Moonstone verses and rhymed filigree,
From her terrors she plucked stout booty --
A robber's curses and a pirate's glee.

Drama spiced her dearth and dryness
With a hag to scold her and a prince to aid;
When Death, the ruffian, nudged her shoulder
She cried: "Your Highness!" and knelt unafraid.
