TO ANOTHER POET by ELLA STRATTON COLBO

First Line: YOU FILLED A BOWL WITH QUEEN ANNE'S LACE
Last Line: MAKING POEMS WITH FLOWERS!
Subject(s): POETRY & POETS; QUEEN ANNE'S LACE;

You filled a bowl with Queen Anne's Lace,
And touched it deftly here and there.
A thing of long-remembered grace
It stood, for all the world to share.
You gathered wayside blooms that seemed
To us quite commonplace,
And soon a living, glowing prayer
Was fashioned for His Altar Place.
I who sought with futile words
To capture summer moods and hours,
Marvelled at your skillful hands --
Making poems with flowers!
