I found silver today in the cadence and trill Of the gay little song of the whippoorwill, And gold at the edge of the crimsoned west In a sea of clouds as the sun dipped to rest. Turqouise and rubies, amethyst, jade, I found in the setting that God had made, On hillside, in valleys, all summer they grow, In winter kept safe in a casket of snow. Diamonds and pearls I had lost for a while I found today in the flash of your smile -- So my heart is answering the cadence and thrill Of that gay little song of the whippoorwill. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE SOLITARY WOODSMAN by CHARLES GEORGE DOUGLAS ROBERTS CITY LYRICS by NATHANIEL PARKER WILLIS DOWN BY THE SALLEY GARDENS by WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS THE SISTER AT A MATERNITY HOSPITAL by R.
