EVASION by ALICE B. CRAIG

First Line: WE GO PRETENDING, DEAREST FOOL
Last Line: BIND YOU TO ME AND ME TO YOU.
Subject(s): TOGETHERNESS;

We go pretending, dearest fool,
That we shall one day part as friends.
We talk quite sensibly of things
Ignoring moons and April winds,
Not thinking of the nights we've known --
Not thinking that perhaps these few
Brief ecstasies together may
Bind you to me and me to you.
