APRIL by THOMAS AUGUSTINE DALY

First Line: HERE COMES APRIL! FILMY-FAIR
Last Line: SELF-DETERMINATION.
Subject(s): APRIL;

HERE comes April! filmy-fair,
Green of cap and kirtle,
Silver dew-drops in her hair
And a sprig of myrtle.

Here comes April up the land,
Irish as Killarney,
Subject to no man's command,
Proof against his blarney.

Smiles or tears she wears at will;
Often she's "desateful,"
But what gifts she's pleased to spill
Take them and be grateful!

No directing mortal hands
Touch this quaint equation;
She is Irish, and demands
Self-determination.
