LIFE by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES

Poet Analysis

First Line: THE QUALITY OF LIFE ON EARTH
Last Line: THAT LOOKS FOR BETTER AFTER DEATH?
Subject(s): LIFE;

The quality of life on earth
Is all that dreams could make it be;
And all I ask for in this world
Is but increase in quantity.
My corn and wine — how sweet are these!
How precious is this living breath!
Is it not Man's ingratitude
That looks for better after death?
