DIFFERENTIA by LULU BRUNT DAWSON

First Line: THE SUN IS A GOD
Last Line: OF UTTER WEARINESS.

The sun is a god,
A flaming, avid god,
Young as an old man with a new love;
And his setting
Is as brilliant and resplendent
As his rising --
A glory that never wanes.

The moon is a goddess,
A chaste, sardonic goddess;
Old as any woman out of love.
She will rise in radiant splendor
To triumphant, lucent fullness
And then wane and die
Of utter weariness.
