E SEMPRE BENE by ANNA BUNSTON DE BARY

First Line: BUT SHALL WE NOT GROW TIRED OF JOY
Last Line: SHALL BE ASTONISHED AT EACH KISS.
Subject(s): KISSES; LOVE; MEMORY;

BUT shall we not grow tired of joy
When bitter things are passed away?
And will not love and beauty cloy
If unrelieved day after day?

Fear not! The memory of tears
Shall lend a fresh delight to bliss,
And lips, once wrung, through all the years
Shall be astonished at each kiss.
