To some most happy men the grace is given After long circuit to come back to heaven -- The heaven where they in childhood used to dwell; Life is the school in which they have learned to tell, After long labour, of the lovely and fair In shape, form, colour that inhabit there, Whose light celestial unchanging gleams Only where innocence or wisdom dreams. This happier child at peace in that first home, As yet untravelled, need no further roam; But over her paper and her colours bent Can paint the bliss 'tis to be innocent. Life, add thy wisdom, and at length bring us Where springs the fountain of her genius. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BLACK EAGLE RETURNS TO ST.
