THE BLUEBELL by MARGARET WADE CAMPBELL DELAND

Poet Analysis

First Line: IN LOVE SHE FELL
Last Line: WHEN, LO, HE FLEW AWAY!
Subject(s): BEES; BLUEBELLS; INSECTS; LOVE; BEEKEEPING; BUGS;

IN love she fell,
My shy Bluebell,
With a strolling Bumblebee;
"I love you so,"
He whispered low,
"Sweet, give your heart to me!"

"I love but you,
And I'll be true,
Oh, give me your heart, I pray?"
She bent her head,—
"I will," she said;
When, lo, he flew away!
