AIR by ANTOINETTE DU LIGIER DE LA GARDE DESHOULIERES

Poem Explanation

First Line: PLEASANT SPRINGTIDE BRINGS TO BIRTH
Last Line: AS MANY LOVES AS FLOWERS ARE.

PLEASANT springtide brings to birth
As many loves as flowers are.
Youthful hearts, beware! beware!
Soon as it renews the earth,
Cold it scatters everywhere.
But its pleasures, sweet and rare,
Oft cost more than they be worth.
Youthful hearts, beware! beware!
Pleasant springtide brings to birth
As many loves as flowers are.
