ADVENTURE WITH SKY by JESSIE M. DOWLIN

First Line: DUSK CREPT OUT FROM THE WOODS TO THE WATER
Last Line: THE FAWN BENT DOWN AND SAMPLED SKY!
Subject(s): DUSK; FORESTS; SKY; WATER; WOODS;

Dusk crept out from the woods to the water;
Dusk followed the feet of the red deer's daughter;
Akin to silence, she carefully stepped
Where water woke and the warm sand slept;
A dropped star fluttered along the brink --
Star in the water! Dared she drink?
Hesitant -- eager -- with valorous sigh
The fawn bent down and sampled sky!
