The electric lights begin To jump as if they'd fuse, Outside the house a giant dances, Pounding in heavy shoes. A witch astride her broom Sweeps on to join the dance You hear her sweep as the bombs whizz, You hear her broomstick prance. The windows play a tune, Rattling castanets. Above the town a harpy glides, Swoops and pirouettes. The Dance of Death begins, The Witch's Sabbath comes. The violins already shriek, And now begin the drums. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BUDMOUTH DEARS by THOMAS HARDY PSALM 74 by OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE A BOSTON TOAST by JOHN COLLINS BOSSIDY THE 'MOSES' OF MICHAEL ANGELO by ROBERT BROWNING SONGS OF THE SEA CHILDREN: 59 by BLISS CARMAN MOSBY AT HAMILTON by MADISON JULIUS CAWEIN |
