PARTY by RITA M. DRAGONETTE

First Line: THERE WAS MUCH ZEST
Last Line: I WAS ABOUT TO SAY.
Subject(s): LAUGHTER;

There was much zest
And sparkle, and the air was shrill
With laughter-stabbed inebriation.

I was gayer than the rest
Until
Somebody lit his cigarette
In your odd way --

And the wind of memory
Blowing across my animation,
Choked the thing
I was about to say.
