APRIL by ELIZABETH DAVIES DUTCHER

First Line: I NEVER SAW AN APRIL QUITE LIKE THIS
Last Line: BRINGS CHEER AND HAPPINESS TO ME.
Subject(s): APRIL; SPRING;

I never saw an April quite like this:
A robin's song from leafless apple trees,
A violet-covered mound of amethyst,
A warm and gentle perfumed breeze.
I had remembered other April weather,
Snow and rain and sleet and hail
That chanced to come together.
Today I saw hepaticas down the trail.

Just now there came a tremulous thrill,
A bluebird flits along the lane,
The south wind scampers.
The daffodil raises its head and blooms again,
A promise of leaves on every tree
Brings cheer and happiness to me.
