I never saw an April quite like this: A robin's song from leafless apple trees, A violet-covered mound of amethyst, A warm and gentle perfumed breeze. I had remembered other April weather, Snow and rain and sleet and hail That chanced to come together. Today I saw hepaticas down the trail. Just now there came a tremulous thrill, A bluebird flits along the lane, The south wind scampers. The daffodil raises its head and blooms again, A promise of leaves on every tree Brings cheer and happiness to me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INVITATION TO LOVE by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR THE BOSTON EVENING TRANSCRIPT by THOMAS STEARNS ELIOT AS THE GREEK'S SIGNAL FLAME by WALT WHITMAN THE SEA-BIRD'S SONG by JOHN GARDINER CALKINS BRAINARD LAMENT FOR OLD MEN by VERNE BRIGHT BEAUTIFUL HANDS by INA LADD BROWN |
