NOTES AND QUERIES by ROWLAND EYLES EGERTON-WARBURTON

First Line: A LADY SAT BY ME AT VEREY'S
Last Line: WITH HER WENT BOTH NOTES AND QUEER EYES.
Subject(s): SEDUCTION; WOMEN;

A LADY sat by me at Verey's,
Making at me very queer eyes:
A twenty and a five pound note
Were in the pocket of my coat:
I made no note of her departur,
Though many a query I made arter;
For when that lady went from Verey's
With her went both notes and queer eyes.
