HIGH HOPES by AVERIL H. ELLIS

First Line: A DREAM CHILD CLOISTERED IN MY HEART
Last Line: AND SENT HER ON HER WAY.
Subject(s): CHILDREN; LOVE; CHILDHOOD;

A dream child cloistered in my heart
To me for freedom sighed;
"Not for a cold and selfish world
To scorn and set aside,
I could not bear to see you so."
"I want to live," she cried.
"But you are frail and men are harsh,"
I pleaded in dismay.
"You can not know my destiny;
Let me love's hope repay."
I breathed my dream child into song
And sent her on her way.
