LOVE IS NOT WINGED by EUBULUS

First Line: WHO GAVE LOVE WINGS? WHOSE PENCIL DREW THE LINE
Last Line: THE MAN'S A FOOL WHO EVER MENTIONED WINGS.
Subject(s): LOVE - NATURE OF;

WHO gave Love wings? Whose pencil drew the line
Or fingers modelled wax to that design?
To sketch a swallow was his only art,
A man unschooled to know the god apart.
Love is no feather-weight: whom love attacks
Have pains to shift that burden from their backs, --
A load so plaguy where he sits and clings
The man's a fool who ever mentioned wings.
