DEATH-GRAPPLE by LAURA BELL EVERETT

First Line: MAN AND THE PITILESS WATERS
Last Line: HOW LONG SHALL THE CARNAGE BE?
Subject(s): DEATH; SEA; DEAD, THE; OCEAN;

Man and the pitiless waters
Fight man and the cavernous sea.
The ocean is ready to fight all men
In its stark immensity.
Man against man, conspiring well,
Can make of the sea and the land a hell.
How long shall the carnage be?
