PALACE OF THE WORLD by LOUIS HENRI JEAN FARIGOULE

First Line: THE SKY OPENED UNRESISTINGLY
Last Line: THE STORM THAT CALLS.
Subject(s): CLOUDS; SKY; STORMS;

The sky opened unresistingly
To fleet clouds;
There was gaiety—
Unlasting.

We must find summer
Reared on four columns,
A day high-vaulted
Where footfalls resound.

Not these false vapours
That a festival
Or a fair chance that befalls
Seem to send into the sky—

That at once descry
And far off hail
The storm that calls.
