FROM THE CHINESE by JOHN GOULD FLETCHER

First Line: THE LANTERNS DANGLE AT THE END OF LONG WIRES
Last Line: RATTLE THEM TOGETHER, RENDING THEIR CRIMSON SIDES!

The lanterns dangle at the end of long wires,
The breeze bobs them to and fro.
My soul is in love with that lazy lantern-dance.
Oh, how the autumn gusts through the dark gardens
Rattle them together, rending their crimson sides!
