MORNING-GLORY by HORTENSE KING FLEXNER

First Line: TO ARGUE FROM THE DESIGN IN THE MORNING-GLORY
Last Line: GOD.
Subject(s): FUTURE LIFE; RETRIBUTION; ETERNITY; AFTER LIFE;

To argue from the design in the morning-glory
To the intention of Eternity
Is not permissible.
The material in the star-webbed flower
Is more obedient to law
Than the stuff of the soul,
Where the wild ungovernable molecule.
The untamed particle
Destroys with its presence
In the design and texture of your face,
My effort to simplify
God.
