WINTER BRANCH by HORTENSE KING FLEXNER

First Line: WHEN I SEE YOU
Last Line: OF AGONY.
Subject(s): GRIEF; HEARTS; LOVE - LOSS OF; SORROW; SADNESS;

When I see you,
Running from the door
To meet your lover,
Knowing as I do
The small chance of his worthiness,
Then I, as the winter branch,
Galled by the icy wind,
Make my bound gesture
Of agony.
