X-RAY by HORTENSE KING FLEXNER

First Line: WHAT TRUTH THE DOCTOR READS
Last Line: AND BREATH.
Subject(s): BONES; DEATH; MEDICINE; PHYSICIANS; SKELETONS; X-RAYS; DEAD, THE; DRUGS, PRESCRIPTION; DOCTORS;

What truth the doctor reads
In the flash of grudging bone,
The show of premature death,
Could also have been construed
(Though not for the patient's needs)
Given time and a dated stone
To mark the end of feud
Between the angry skeleton
And breath.
