A PRAYER by MARTHA JEANNETTE FRANCIS

First Line: MORE THAN LURE OF MYSTIC LANDS BEYOND THE SEA
Last Line: GRANT ME, LORD, A CALM FELICITY.
Subject(s): HOME; PRAYER;

More than lure of mystic lands beyond the sea,
Do the beauties of my Homeland call to me.
Great and wondrous are the scenes of ancient Rome;
Dearer to me are the tender ties of home.

Wealth and power a gay existence oft portray;
Make me happy in the blessings of the day.
In the journey o'er life's highway as I go,
Lasting peace and true perspective may I know.

Not in vain and futile search for the rainbow,
Give content and peace in simple joys I know.
Banish longing for the things that cannot be,
Grant me, Lord, a calm felicity.
