NOT TO BE WON by NORMAN ROWLAND GALE

First Line: TIS SAID THERE FLASHES IN HER WIT
Last Line: SHE BREAKS MY HEART BY STAYING HERE.
Subject(s): COURTSHIP; MAN-WOMAN RELATIONSHIPS; MALE-FEMALE RELATIONS;

'TIS said there flashes in her wit
A starry glow
That lights a thought, and keeps it lit
As folly's foe.
It may be so;
I only know
Her silences are exquisite.

'Tis said she easily commands,
As to and fro
She moves among adoring bands,
Desire to grow.
It may be so;
I only know
She makes a heaven where she stands.

'Tis said that early in the year
My Love will go
A world away, with all that's dear
In overflow.
It may be so;
I only know
She breaks my heart by staying here.
