PACIFIC SUNSET by WILLIAM GARDINER

First Line: CONCORD SUPREME TAKES HEAVENLY CONTROL
Last Line: SOARS, KIN TO GOD, A TINY SPARK OF STAR.
Subject(s): PACIFIC OCEAN;

Concord supreme takes heavenly control
As flaming magic fills the sunset west
And steeps the world in beauty, floods the soul
Beyond all scope of utterance to attest.

Ocean is soothed to silence, man to rest,
The colors dim and fade into the night,
The enfolding universe is dream possessed,
Star outposts take their vigil infinite.

The quietude of stilled waters holds the sea,
Soft winds caress and plashing tides intone,
All unrest calms to vast serenity
And peace ineffible assumes its own.

In darkling hush the spirit, freed, afar
Soars, kin to God, a tiny spark of star.
