SUSTENANCE by VERLIE PARRY STORY GILES

First Line: HER HEART IS FRAGRANT, GARDEN PLACE
Last Line: DISPENDS SUSTENANCE OF LOVELINESS.
Subject(s): BEAUTY; GARDENS & GARDENING;

Her heart is fragrant, garden place
Where beauty breathes her consummate grace.
Her heart is fragrant: Flowers bloom
And vagrant breezes bear perfume;
On ancient boughs brown birds sing,
Beneath the trees moon-shadows fling.
Her heart is earth, fertile fire
Where roots the red rose of her desire!
When dusk descends and dewdrops fall,
Walk Thou, O God, within her call.
Despatch white angels to assuage
Her final fear, Thy light presage
Beyond. -- Her heart with tenderness
Dispends sustenance of loveliness.
