BAKER TOWER BELLS (DARTMOUTH COLLEGE) by LEONARD B. GRAY

First Line: ACROSS THE BOARD CAMPUS
Last Line: IN WHICH ONE LIVES UPLIFTED.
Subject(s): BELLS; DARTMOUTH COLLEGE; MEMORY; SOUL;

Across the board campus
The sweet, clear peal
Of those sudden, haunting bells,
Stops one's rush of thought or play
By some old, familiar song.
Something's uncovered in the mind
In this revealing moment,
Some dim ember of the soul rekindled,
Some dear memory of former days revived;
Or some new vista opened
To some bright, magic world
In which one lives uplifted.
