Come, join us comrades, let us sing tonight, Another day has past, and nights though long Like all things earthly, must resign to flight, And to the dark's departure goes our song. Every tomorrow brings a newer turn, A better moment than the past has known, And from our song the younger ones will learn Of fields in which the yester deeds were sown. This night is heavy and the clouds are thick; But wind and storm cannot destroy the stars, Nor needs the day depend on oily wick To point the road across impending bars. True songs have strength to conquer dark and gale, So let us sing that night and storm may fail. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CINQUAIN: MOON-SHADOWS by ADELAIDE CRAPSEY THE BLINDED BIRD by THOMAS HARDY THE DYING SWAN by ALFRED TENNYSON CASTLES IN THE AIR by JAMES BALLANTYNE NATALIA'S RESURRECTION: 18 by WILFRID SCAWEN BLUNT |
