LOST LAUGHTER: 2. TO CALIGULA by HALA JEAN HAMMOND

First Line: BELIEVE / AND FEAR SHALL VANISH
Last Line: AND GOD.

Believe.
And fear shall vanish
As the mists the sun
Disposes, crowded ways grow clear
And crystal streams of light break ripplingly ...
So love their wooing --
Believe!

And dream.
God first the dreamer,
Silence sung. Trees breathed
And mountains talked. The word
Of prophecy came thunderous crash of joy.
Deep earth in travail,
Man was born.
Believe!

And know. Life is,
The sea, the stars
And God.
