LOST LAUGHTER: 3. THIS IS by HALA JEAN HAMMOND

First Line: THIS IS - I KNOW IT NOW
Last Line: I DO NOT SAY.

This is -- I know it now
Even as a down-light touch
Kisses invisibly my brow --
I know it now.

This is -- a silence sings
In running water. Leaf
Symphonic motion wings --
A silence sings.

This is. Throat of a stone --
Tides' passion for the sea.
Echo of winds unblown --
Throat of a stone.

This is? ...
I do not say
The Now may not be Then.
Taper that lights another day ...
I do not say.
