HIS EMBALMING TO JULIA by ROBERT HERRICK

Poet Analysis

First Line: FOR MY EMBALMING, JULIA, DO BUT THIS
Last Line: TO GIVE AN INCORRUPTION UNTO ME.
Subject(s): EMBALMING;

For my embalming, Julia, do but this,
Give thou my lips but their supreamest kiss:
Or else trans-fuse thy breath into the chest,
Where my small reliques must for ever rest:
That breath the Balm, the myrrh, the Nard shal be,
To give an incorruption unto me.
