JUNE NIGHTS by VICTOR MARIE HUGO

First Line: IN SUMMER, WHEN THE DAY IS GONE
Last Line: DAWN WAITS ITS HOUR.
Subject(s): JUNE; NIGHT; SUMMER; BEDTIME;

In summer, when the day is gone,
Flowers' rich scent is wafted near;
The eyes are shut, but lightly sleep comes on;
Sounds reach the ear.

The stars are pure, and space is deeper;
Night feels a glow, the long day's dower.
In the sky's depth, and hovering o'er the sleeper,
Dawn waits its hour.
