SONG FOR THE GUITAR by ROBERT UNDERWOOD JOHNSON

First Line: I GRIEVE TO SEE THESE TEARS
Last Line: WERE BUT A SINGLE TEAR FOR ME!
Subject(s): GUITARS;

I GRIEVE to see these tears --
Long strangers to thine eye --
These jewels that fond years
For me could never buy.
Weep, weep, and give thy heart relief.
I grieve, but 't is not for thy grief:

Not for these tears -- they were
Another's ere they fell --
But those that never stir
The fountain where they dwell.
I'd smile, though thou shouldst weep a sea,
Were but a single tear for me!
