FOSSIL, 1919 by JANET LEWIS

First Line: I FOUND A LITTLE ANCIENT FERN
Last Line: IN A A ROUND APRICOT VELVET CASE.
Subject(s): FOSSILS;

I found a little ancient fern
Closed in a reddish shale concretion,
As neatly and as charmingly shut in
As my grandmother's face in a daguerrotype,
In a a round apricot velvet case.
