A FRAGMENT by STEPHANE MALLARME

Poem Explanation

First Line: ON BATTLEMENTED MORNINGSIDE
Last Line: THE GRASSES AND THE LEAVES ARE STILL.
Subject(s): WIND; WINTER;

On battlemented Morningside
The gold alembic days distill,
The violet rocks remember yet
The winter winds that moaned and sighed.
The grasses and the leaves are still.
