THE JUST MAN AND by MARIANNE MOORE

Poet Analysis

First Line: HIS PIE. 'I WOULD BE
Last Line: AND FOUND IN IT NOTHING FOR HIMSELF.

HIS pie. "I would be
Repossessed of all the
Superlatives that I have squandered,
That I might use them in praise of it."
The four and twenty
Birds were singing while he
Apportioned it off casually
And found in it nothing for himself.
