PUT TO SLEEP by RICHARD KENDALL MUNKITTRICK

First Line: BACK AND FORTH IN A ROCKER
Last Line: HAD CROWED HIS MOTHER TO SLEEP.
Subject(s): MOTHERS; SLEEP;

To my heart's garden, stealthily
Came he
To steal the rose that bloomed in it.
Ah, thief!
I caught him, hand, head and heart;
Smile! Cry! a robber, thou art!
Ah, me
Who caught whom, He me?
Had crowed his mother to sleep.
