THE POWER OF CUSTOM by PINDAR

First Line: CUSTOM IS LORD OF EVERYTHING
Last Line: CYCLOPEAN, -- LOOT UNASKED, UNBOUGHT.
Subject(s): CUSTOMS, SOCIAL;

CUSTOM is lord of everything,
Of mortals and immortals king.
High violence it justifies,
With hand uplifted plundering.
For this my testimony lies
In Heracles. He sacked the stalls
Of Geryon, and his cattle brought
And stood them by Eurystheus' halls
Cyclopean, -- loot unasked, unbought.
