THE BEAUTY by ALEKSANDR SERGEYEVICH PUSHKIN

Poet Analysis

First Line: ALL HARMONY, ALL MARVEL, SHE
Last Line: HER BEAUTY AND HER SANCTITY.

ALL harmony, all marvel, she,
Above the world and passionless:
She rests serene shamefastedly
In her triumphant loveliness;
She looks around her left and right:
She has no rival and no peer:
The beauties of our pallid sphere
Have vanished in her blinding light.

Bound for whatever be your goal,
Though to a lover's tryst you speed,
However precious in your soul
A day-dream you may hide and feed;
Yet, meeting her, unwillingly
You of a sudden dazed and mute
Shall halt devoutly to salute
Her beauty and her sanctity.
