A PAIR OF SWALLOWS by JOHN BANISTER TABB

First Line: TOGETHER FIRST THEY PLAN A NEST
Last Line: FROM GHOSTLAND SPEEDING, MUST THEY GO.
Subject(s): SWALLOWS;

Together first they plan a nest,
And where and how to build it best,
Ere @3she@1 begins from day to day
To count the eggs she has to lay.
Then @3he@1 must help her sit and watch
Until the little household hatch,
And then, on pinions strong, prepare
To satisfy the hungry brood.

Soon they are bold enough to wing
Short flights with endless twittering;
And then provide the fitting food
Long voyages in upper air.
For southward, swifter than the snow
From ghostland speeding, must they go.
