CHRISTMAS EVE: SUNSET by JOHN BANISTER TABB

First Line: ONCE MORE UPON THE WESTERN SKIES
Last Line: THE SON OF GOD IS BORN.

Once more upon the western skies
The flaming sword appears,
And Eve again from paradise
Departs in twilight tears.

A backward look, a memory
O'ershadowing afar
A promise, of her progeny
The sole remaining star;

And dreams that waken in the gloom
The glory of a morn
When, mothered in a maiden's womb,
The Son of God is born.
