@3"God let you sleep in Lynmouth once Before your dreams are done!"@1 -- NANCY BYRD TURNER I too have slept in Lynmouth, Sweet village by the sea, And there brave dreams of England Came in the night to me. I saw the men of Devon In far-off spacious days Faring abroad for England On strange uncharted ways. Beneath the thatch at dawning I looked on hill and sea Where in the morning mist they lay In deep tranquillity. No sound save running water, No wind from tree-crowned height... It was a dreamful vision Born of the quiet night. But fairer vision followed, The sun in splendor rose! ... Oh who can sense that glory Save one who Lynmouth knows? The sun on Lynmouth shining, The ocean at its feet, Close-guarded by encircling hills Where sky and verdure meet: To sleep and dream in Lynmouth And rise to scene so fair... I'd journey half around the world For just one waking there! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...GARDEN FANCIES: 2.
