THE FISHER by WILLIAM WATSON

Poet Analysis

First Line: THE FISHER IS A WARRIOR
Last Line: HAVE GLIMMERED, AND FLASHED, AND WHEELED.
Subject(s): FISH & FISHING; WAR;

THE Fisher is a warrior:
His camp is on the foam.
And he returns from victory,
Bringing his captives home.

Home he brings his captives,
Beauteous to behold,
Some in silver armour,
Some in mail of gold.

A brief truce, and to-morrow
Again the chanceful field! --
Where the burnished legions all night long
Have glimmered, and flashed, and wheeled.
