GOD'S ENEMIES by AMOS RUSSEL WELLS

First Line: HATE IS DIVINE IF HATE IS BENT
Last Line: AND MELT INTO THE BLACK?
Subject(s): HATE;

Hate is divine if hate is bent
Only on Hatred's hateful face;
Curses are good when they are sent
On maledictions base.

Is he a friend of God, forsooth,
Who weakly numbers with his friends
The vile antagonist of truth
All hot for evil ends?

He is against that is not for
Our jealous God, our regnant Christ,
And as an act of open war
Indifference has sufficed.

God's lights are we, required to beat
The hosts of darkness back;
Shall we lie grovelling at their feet
And melt into the black?
