GOT; A NONSENSE SONG WITH A POINT by AMOS RUSSEL WELLS

First Line: I HAVE GOT ME A TABLET AND PEN
Last Line: FOR FORGETTING THE THING THAT I GOT?

I have got me a tablet and pen,
I have got me a bottle of ink,
And now since I've got to write something at once,
I've got to be silent and think.

I've got a fair measure of brains,
I got a good training in school,
But since I have got to discoursing like this,
I have got to be much of a fool.

I have got an idea in my head,
That someway I've got to extract;
But what have I got when the sentence is said?
Have I got a deceit or a fact?

I haven't got all I should get,
And I've got to remember a lot.
If I've got what I got, O what shall I get
For forgetting the thing that I got?
