INSTANT BELIEVING by AMOS RUSSEL WELLS

First Line: I WILL NOT ASK THEE FOR THE GRACE
Last Line: "THAT I SHALL DO?"
Subject(s): FAITH; BELIEF; CREED;

I will not ask Thee for the grace
I need so much:
I only look upon Thy face,
Thy cross I touch.

I will not stop to tell my sin,
My failures name,
Or cast a further glance within
Upon my shame.

I will not stay to plead Thy word
Or urge my woe,
Or ask a sign that Thou hast heard
And wilt bestow.

I do not seek to break my chain
Endured so long,
Or gauge the might of Satan's reign,
His hold how strong.

I praise Thee for the gift received
Before I ask,
And with the word, "I have believed,"
I take my task.

I will forget the past abhorred,
To faith be true,
And only ask, "What wilt Thou, Lord,
That I shall do?"
