A CHILD by ANONYMOUS

First Line: "O HADES, DEATH'S INEXORABLE KING"
Last Line: WHEN SORROW BROODS ABOVE THE HOME HE LEFT?
Subject(s): DEATH - CHILDREN; DEATH - BABIES;

O HADES, death's inexorable king,
Wilt never turn aside from plundering?
Now is Callaeschrus of his life bereft.
And what avails to know the child shall be
A plaything in thy halls, Persephone,
When sorrow broods above the home he left?
